Dance.Quartet – a journey through memories.

"Do not trust your memory; it is a net full of holes; the most beautiful prizes slip through it" -- Robertson Davies.

This is a local mixed bill contemporary dance production as they bring the audience through the journey of their memories, revealing the surreal world of darkness, the unspoken, the manipulation, fabrication and confusion where the nebulous boundary separating fantasy and reality as well as the question of existence and reliability of the human's memory arises.

Memory is the retention of, and the ability to recall information, personal experiences and procedures (skills and habits). In this production, we transport the audience into another dimension of contemporary dance - the surrealism of memory portraying different backgrounds and characters (dane training discipline), the questioning of communication and human interaction forms while exploring the mysterious world of human memory. yet they possess but fragments of their recollections.

Guest Choreographer: Grace Leong

Is only when you are being stripped away with all things, then you know what you really have.

From the glory of Angkor Kingdom to the poverty of the present, Sbek Thom (Cambodia leather puppet) survived the test of adversity and tragedy for generations, what remain reflects its true spirit.

Dada

Choreographer: Goh Chee Seng

Dadaism - an avant-garde European art form dating back to the early 20th cenury. Rejecting all reason and logic, while priming nonsense, irrationality and intuition.

With undefined concept, the dancers explore possibilities based on chance and the creation is questioned: "Do you know what they are doing...?"

Scorn of the 'Thorn'

Guest Choreographer: Liz Fong

Don't we sometimes question... The definition of our culrure

Is it mere competitiveness or is it plain 'kiasu-ism'?

An on occasions, aren't we fond, of making this senseless pleasure...

a 'thorn'?

Sojourn... sojournment

To reside temporarily, as that of a stranger or a traveler, as that of a memory or a thought, as that of a desire or a need,

As that of... sojourn.
