D.ecagon – epitomizing ten angles and ten sides, an analogy to the 10 th establishment of Dance Horizon Troupe (Singapore) as dancers seek to move and explore their bodies in accordance with the unlimited dimension and boundaries in our normal course of lives, to surge beyond the limitation.

This contemporary dance production seeks to portray our daily lives in various dimensions and transition both physically and emotionally, with dancers exploring their bodies to move in coherence with our daily lives gesture as well as to interpret the often hidden inner aspects of human being, eliciting the connectivity between the dancers and the audience. With the amalgamation of creative stage settings, lighting and short dance films, this production hopes to incite the audience with a unique watching experience.

The production comprises two original full length pieces with the first half by our Resident Choreographer, Mr Benedict Soh who held a Master degree in Dance Choreography with Victoria College of Arts followed by the latter, in collaboration with our guest choreographer, Miss Kuo Nai Yu, an experienced dancer previously with the renowned and internationally acclaimed Cloud Gate Dance Theatre from Taiwan. With the fusion of styles and ideas from both choreographers, this production sets to stage a unique blend of dance elements.

A space of neon and flourescent lights, the city is always bright. As it is with the relentless flow of traffic and the constant ebb and flow of changing faces, likewise the steady stream of continuous activity sweeps everyone into the flow of moving and going. Moving past physical fatigue and going past reason into the realm of unquestioning habit. The hustle and bustle of the day continues well into the night, encroaching upon the sleepless habitations of the unfortunate inhabitants of the city.

"To forget is to prolong exile. Memory is the gateway to salvation"

-- Baal Schem Tov

Emotions, complexity of the uman mind, individual needs and struggles are what er are made of. They have shaped us into who we are through a chain of events; events that we have created, product of our own self.

Through a process of recollecting fragments of my memories, I have created a series of interconnected segments that have a profound impact in my life.

"Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow" is a work driven by self-questioning, reminiscing and reflecting on our past, present and the future development of our society.

Life is like trans running steadily one after another. Life is like never-ending scenes. Everday is a different scene, playing out the same or familiar plots. People are drawn into this dream-like world by the growth of their own film. They look forward to the unanticipated scenes that develop, from their ordinary and static pace to the life filled with pleasant surprises and joy.

Time passes and is lost with the daily routines of life. The similar scenes of endless passerby on the streets and work are re-enacting everyday. Memories are formed every minute. THey are like the afternoon showers, They pour and then fade into the thin air. But seen or unseen, they are always there in out hearts.

Life is a chain, connected and interlinked. They advance steadfastly and unwavered, from the begining till now and it continues......
